Cable Canal Cover
thingiverse
I drilled a hole through a wall for an ethernet cable and it turned out a bit more visible than what I liked. So this little thing serves to cover the hole. The device consists of two covers, one has an inner ring to hold it on the cable and an outer ring to go into the hole. The other is just a plate with a section left free to push it on the cable. Rotate the two covers a little and everything is covered. There's a third item which has no opening for a cable, it is only useful once you want to plug the hole. This has been designed for a cable diameter of 6mm and a hole of 16 mm. FreeCad source included. The design is parametric, just open the spreadsheet 'val' and adapt it to your needs (yellow fields are input while grey fields are calculated.) This thingamajig was created to cover up an ethernet cable hole in a wall that turned out to be more visible than I liked. It's made of two covers - one with an inner ring that grips the cable and an outer ring that fits into the hole, and another plate with a section left open for inserting the cable. When you rotate the two covers slightly, they fit together perfectly. There's also a third item without any cable opening, which is only useful once you've plugged up the hole. The design is suited for a 6mm diameter cable and a 16 mm wide hole. FreeCAD source code is included so you can easily modify it to your needs. Just open the spreadsheet 'val', change the yellow fields as needed, and the grey ones will do the calculations for you.
