Cabinet Mounted Filament Spool Holder
thingiverse
I created a bespoke enclosure for my RepRap i3, necessitating a spool holder that would complement its design. This innovative device will function flawlessly with almost any cabinet or enclosure, requiring merely a few strategically placed holes to be cut out. The assembly process entails the following essential components: * End caps tailored specifically for 48mm-holed spools, such as the SainSmart variants. * A sturdy main mount plate serving as the primary structural foundation. * Reinforcing top support hooks that securely fasten to the edges of a cabinet. * A rod backing piece providing additional stability and rigidity. The two end caps feature an ingenious design incorporating 608ZZ bearings pressed into place. They are designed to slide effortlessly onto either 8mm smooth rods (utilized in my setup) or 8M threaded rods, allowing users to secure the spool using a nut if desired. Meanwhile, the two side hooks cleverly slip into the slots on the main mount plate, forming an L-shape that securely grasps the edge of a cabinet. Notably, the hook ends feature an adaptive design permitting the creation of a 25mm x 7mm slot in your cabinet to which they will latch onto. Lastly, the rod backing piece glides smoothly over the 8mm rod and seamlessly pushes into place within the main plate. While this component is somewhat optional, users with cabinets made from wood or metal are unlikely to require it.
