Cabinet knob

I've made a captured nut version of this, which I prefer. A ceramic cabinet knob somehow disappeared. (How does that happen?) So I modeled this after one of its fellows. Then I acquired a wardrobe with some knobs I didn't like. I replaced them with a couple of these. They feel nice in my fingers. The close-up photos make the layers look prominent, but in practice no one notices without close inspection. Printer Brand: SeeMeCNC Printer: ORION Delta 3D Printer Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.15 mm layers Infill: 25% Notes: Thinner layers are worth it here. Infill is mainly helpful to get a smooth top surface (the photos are at 10%, probably not enough). I had one print with 3 perimeters fail (someone pulled it off the screw), so I recommend 5 perimeters now. I printed the two halves and glued them together with gel cyanoacrylate glue, so the overhang would be perfect. It's possible that you could print the whole knob at once without support. You could also use support, then sand to ensure a smooth surface. And of course applying polyurethane or other glossy coatings (or vapor-finishing using ABS) would make a nice finish. I was happy with this finish, though. Post-Printing Glue the halves together, if you're taking that option. Secure to your desired surface from the back with a #6 wood screw, 1/4" longer than your mounting material is deep. How I Designed This A simple extrusion in Blender. The Blender file contains a couple of mesh exports with slightly different profiles; the one called "Knob 4" is the one provided as an .stl.
