A standard cabin is often defined by its simple rectangular shape and relatively small size. Typically, it consists of a single story with walls made of wood, brick, or stone. The roof usually slopes upwards to allow water to run off freely. A basic cabin may have one door that serves as the entrance and exit point. Windows are also typically simple in design, often being rectangular in shape and placed on opposite sides of the cabin for natural lighting.
