Cab Detail for Athearn BB or RTR F7
thingiverse
This is a cab detail piece designed to fit Athearn Blue-Box and RTR F7 models. Dimensions were approximated by looking at photographs of F7 cabs online. I'm not claiming that it's hugely accurate, but it'll give you something to look at if you peek into the cab windows, and the throttle and brake control stands should at least be recognizable. To use this cab in your loco, you'll need to remove the original headlight and the metal headlight bracket. The headlight bracket receptacle (attached to the chassis) may be left in place. To allow for a replacement headlight, the part was designed to accommodate a 3mm LED in the semi-circular divot in front of the cab. The cab should be compatible with the original connector clip (which carries power from the trucks to the upper side of the motor), but since I intended to convert my loco to DCC I haven't tested that. The cab should fit reasonably snugly between the frame, weight, and shell once everything is in place, without the need for glue. The raised portion of the cab floor is designed to hide the mechanism while still allowing for the front truck to retain its stock range of motion. The seats will fit BLI crew figures without modification, and may fit other brands as well (but I haven't tested).
