Cab Detail for Alpha Brass PRR E-3B
thingiverse
This is a cab detail piece designed to fit the Alpha Brass model of the PRR E-3B experimental electric locomotive. The details are loosely based on the diagram shown on p. 179 of "Electric Traction on the Pennsylvania Railroad 1895 - 1968" by Michael Bezilla. The shape of the back wall is designed to facilitate chassis removal with a decoder and motherboard installed. The holes on the front-underside are designed to mate up with the holes on the bracket underneath the nose of the Alpha Brass E-3B. After printing, you'll need to drill and tap them to fit a pair of 0-80 screws. These two screws are sufficient to attach the cab to the body shell. The bracket in the front of this piece is designed to hold a 3mm LED, to allow for installation of a headlight. You may need to modify the body shell slightly (i.e. drill out the hole for the headlight, and install a lens) to allow the headlight to shine properly from this position. If you don't own this specific loco model, you are of course welcome to adapt this cab to fit your particular project if you can so make use of it.
