CA Thayer Hull
myminifactory
This was an attempt to create the hull of a ship. I used the line drawings and offset tables available for CA Thayer. The design files consist of keel (6 parts printed in 3 STL files), station line holders that trace the top shape of the keel and provide a groove lock for the station lines, 18 station lines (ribs), the front of the hull, and the rear. The idea was not to recreate the Thayer, but to learn how to build hulls. As such, the design creates an OK hull (see photos). I printed these parts, put them together as a skeleton, and planked it with 0.5mm x 7mm wooden strips to create the hull. The gaps were then filled using wood filler paste, and painted with an acrylic paint + PVA glue mixture.
