C60 Burning Man Art Piece Model

thingiverse

This teeny tiny version of a Burning Man art piece named C60 represents a Buckminsterfullerene, a molecular structure consisting of sixty carbon atoms. It was designed by the group "Thanks, Bourbon," who created the full piece from steel wreathed in flames and four feet in diameter. This 3D printable version serves as a reward for Kickstarter backers. The Kickstarter campaign is now closed, but backers can learn more about the project at their website if they want to. Kickstarter backers are thanked and celebrated for making the piece possible. Their contributions were invaluable, allowing the creation of an awesome art installation that wouldn't have been feasible otherwise. Love, Thanks, Bourbon https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thanksbourbon/c60-burning-man-2017?ref=user_menu Assembly Instructions • You will need to print 20 panels to build a complete structure. • Panels should be printed with no support material or rafts for best results. • It's easiest to start by assembling a 5-piece "flower" and then building from there. • The key thing to keep in mind is that each opening is created by 5 interlocking panels. Accidentally making an opening with 4 pieces can be a common mistake. • Once you have 15 panels connected, it's easiest to make another 5-piece "flower" with the last 5 panels and then attach them all at once. • The process requires some patience and flexibility, as you'll need to bend some panels. But with practice, you can master it!
