C3PO Torso Version 2
thingiverse
This is an enhanced iteration of my torso model. These work seamlessly with the same neck ring, belly circle, and back panel from my previous version, so I have not included copies in this posting. You can access those in my earlier version's posting. I have made several key modifications. 1. I have completely reimagined the shoulder rings. The new design is inspired by Gordon Tarpley's concept with an interlocking ring, allowing you to attach the shoulder ring and shoulder bell to the torso while enabling it to rotate freely. The shoulder only detaches when rotated upside down. You can find a detailed explanation in Gordon's video linked below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBYv5iC9-XA&t=276s 2. I have included an option for a hinged shoulder bell, utilizing an Everbilt 1 1/2" Narrow Utility Hinge available at Home Depot (SKU 613541). To modify the hinge, you will need a hacksaw and a bench grinder. First, grind off both ends of the pin. Next, measure the slot in the shoulder bearing and cut one side of the hinge to fit within the slot. Then, place the other side of the hinge in the slot on the shoulder bell and mark the area to be cut. Finally, mark and drill holes for screws. I used M3x8 hex cap screws with nuts, but you can opt for different fasteners if desired. A model of a screw cover is also included to conceal the screw heads. 3. This version boasts a more refined interior, which will help minimize supports when printing in certain angles. 4. There are two back panel options; one features a cut-out behind the panel and the other has a solid face behind the back panel, similar to the first version.
