C3PO DP Re sculpt head
thingiverse
The face shell was saved incorrectly and didn't retain its scale, so I've updated it with a new STL file that's been correctly saved several hours ago - feel free to re-download the front shell. I referenced TheHappyOne's original Don Post scan and used image reference to re-sculpt the front and back head shells using Jesse_M files as a base model to identify inaccuracies and focus on them. A lot of pushing and pulling was required to re-shape the overall forms before sculpting in correct details, with the Don Post head serving only as a reference guide. Gordon Tarpley's review video pointed out several key issues on Jesse_M files that I addressed, focusing heavily on the nose, mouth, eyes, and neck bolt recess. However, I took it a step further by examining very subtle differences in the original suit. The main difference between this version and others is my emphasis on symmetry. This deviates from the original DP scan, as I've attempted to strike a balance between both sides of the head, pulling out the best features from each side. The eyes were matched to Gordon's Eye redesign and are included in the files, while the grill has been slightly updated for authenticity based on reference images. The neck bolts have a position hole, just like the antenna, but I recommend drilling out any necessary bolt sizes before use. (TOLERANCES) I've designed these with 0 tolerances, which means you'll need to either scale-test parts or grind/sand down the front and back head shell joins, eye sockets, and back of the head for a proper fit. THIS HAS NOT BEEN PRINT TESTED Please note that this is my second version - the previous one had major issues with the eyes and was deleted.
