C270 Lens Housing

C270 Lens Housing

I purchased a C270 camera, which comes with a small lens. I discovered that Virtuallyreal had an excellent idea for upgrading to a M12 lens, so I printed the lens housing using their design. Since I have multiple M12 lenses on hand, they are easy to find and swap out if needed. Unfortunately, my imported STL file required some modifications before it fit properly in the housing. To fix this issue, I opened the STL file in Sketchup, cleaned up any errors or imperfections, and resized the thread body to match my specific M12 lens. Additionally, I adjusted the hole positions to ensure a secure fit on my C270 camera. The modified SKP file is included for anyone who may need it. I also learned an important lesson about material choice: white PLA does not work well with this design. The Green power LED located next to the housing allows light to enter the lens, which in turn creates unwanted reflections. To avoid this issue, I recommend using black instead of white for the printed part. In fact, I just completed printing a PETG version of the modified design before submitting this remix. I would like to extend my gratitude to Virtuallyreal for creating an easy-to-follow process and providing the necessary design files for this upgrade. Please note that in the attached image, the camera on the left is equipped with the original lens housing, while the camera on the right features my custom-designed lens housing. The black version will be installed once I finish uploading this remix.
