C270 Camera Mount Support Arm
thingiverse
This is the mounting arm I designed to pair perfectly with the C270 camera mount (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2816919). Created using Crystal Series PETG - Yellow from Maker Geeks, this design showcases exceptional strength and lightness due to its 40% infill fast honeycomb pattern combined with a well-thought-out shape. However, I've encountered an issue in Fusion 360 and Simplify3D that's still being worked out. The mounting post only prints up to the top layers of the base instead of extending all the way down, resulting in a weak spot on this mount. Nevertheless, it remains strong enough to securely hold the camera, albeit with caution required when removing it or tightening the height adjustment screw. 03/31/2018 - Update: The previous support arm design failed after approximately 100 hours of printing due to vibrations and a mounting post that was too narrow. I increased the diameter of the post and remodeled it to go all the way through the base, resulting in version v44 (Much stronger). This necessitated redesigning the camera mount as well, increasing the diameter of the mounting tube to fit on the new support arm (new version is v14). C270 Camera Mount: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2816919 Notes: 1. The attached gcode file was generated using Simplify3D, specifically set up for the Prusa MK3, and includes supports with temperatures tailored to Maker Geeks Crystal series PETG. 2. To print successfully, re-orient the model so that the bottom is facing down on the print bed. 3. After mounting the support arm onto your printer, verify that the Y-axis can move freely before commencing printing. You may need to back off the mounting arm slightly after it's fully attached to the print bed.
