This prehistoric artwork dates back to Neolithic times or earlier, featuring common motifs found in southern Arabia, Oman, and the UAE. [Fossati 2019 Messages from the Past: Rock Art of the Al-Hajar Mountains (Oman)]. Khatm Al Melaha is an impressive archaeological site located on the coast of the Oman Sea near Kalba in Sharjah, UAE. It ranks among the largest rock art sites in the UAE. The site also boasts stone houses, a shell midden, stone tombs, and other features that suggest human occupation spanning from at least the early Holocene era to the 19th century. Over 175 stones with petroglyphs were meticulously documented, with nearly 400 distinct motifs identified. Each rock bearing a glyph was assigned an ID number and a GPS coordinate. In a single day, a massive effort yielded 25455 terrestrial photographs, 5244 drone photographs, 44 drone videos, and 182 GPS points (+/- 1cm) that pinpoint the site's layout with precision. All collected data was processed using Reality Capture software, with further details refined in Substance Painter.
