A 3D model, formed from computed tomography (CT) scans, displays the first cervical vertebra, or atlas (C-1). As the topmost vertebra of the spine and part of the cervical region, it connects to the occipital bone in the skull. Unique among cervical vertebrae, the atlas lacks a vertebral body. Together with C-2 (the axis), it forms the atloaxoid joint enabling head movement. Jefferson's fracture occurs due to axial loading force on the back of the head. The model, based on a 29-year-old male, serves educational purposes for anatomy and physiology learners.
