English translation follow The E sockets (used in Poland, Belgium, ex-Czechoslovakia and France for earth protection) can be used with device using C sockets (no earth protection). The trouble is that the weight of power supply is frequently supported only by the two main electrodes. The objective of this thing is to reduce the pressure on the main electrodes by transferring some weight onto the earth electrode and the rim of the socket. The C socket format is mainly defined by the electrode's diameter and distance but not by its external shape. So this adapter isn't universal despite it fits in many cases. The hole is done to pass a small cord that will ease the object's extraction if it gets stuck into the socket.
