This section of the historic Chesapeake & Ohio Canal is situated near Knoxville, Maryland, directly across the Potomac River from Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, at approximately mile marker 61 adjacent to Lock #34. The dry-laid stone wall effectively retains a significant portion of Harpers Ferry Road as it runs parallel to the canal path. Notably, a small section of the wall features a railroad tie supporting a corresponding segment of the wall within the natural bedrock. The National Park Service's Heritage Documentation Programs spearheaded this documentation effort for the Chesapeake & Ohio National Historical Park in 2020. The field team consisted of architects Ryan Pierce and Paul Davidson, along with photographer Jarob Ortiz.
