C-clamps, also known as G-clamps, are commonly manufactured from steel or cast iron, with smaller versions potentially made of pot metal. The "C" shape typically features a small leveled edge at the top, while a threaded hole is located at the bottom, housing an extended screw. One end of this screw contains a flat surface identical to the upper edge, and the other end usually has a perpendicular metal bar for leverage when tightening. The clamp's full closure sees the screw's flat end in contact with the frame's edge; however, this situation rarely occurs in actual use. Instead, various objects are typically placed between the top and bottom flat edges for securing purposes.
