The Avro C-102 Jetliner was a cutting-edge prototype aircraft designed and constructed by Avro Canada during the late 1940s. Making its maiden flight on August 10th, 1949, this impressive four-turbojet engine passenger plane narrowly trailed behind the de Havilland Comet by just 13 days, securing it a spot as the world's second jet airliner. Howard Hughes proposed to manufacture the Jetliner under license, but the project was abruptly cancelled in 1951, before any additional aircraft could be built. A second airframe was being assembled at the time, but unfortunately it was scrapped before completion. Following a directive in 1956 to surplus the prototype, the Jetliner underwent partial dismantling. Today, only its distinctive nose and cockpit section remain intact, proudly housed within the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa. This remarkable plane boasted an impressive 98ft wingspan and stretched approximately 83ft in length. The model was meticulously designed using Fusion 360, carefully crafted from a set of low-resolution 3-view orthogonal images and reference photographs. Future enhancements to this model will introduce debossed lines for control surfaces, facilitating the application of markings or liveries – updates that are eagerly anticipated.
