Inv.-Nr.: AMUL 3994 Material: Burnt Clay Datierung: 2nd-4th century A.D. Fundort: Egypt (exact location unknown) A small oil lamp is integrated into this bust of the Greek goddess Athena. Athena was equated with the Egyptian goddess Neith, who was honored with a famous light festival in the city of Sais on a regular basis. With each ignition of the lamp, the decoration may have reminded people of this festival. Created during a seminar for the new special exhibition "Becomes. Occupied. Enriched. Egypt between Late Period and Late Antiquity", September 8-December 10, 2017 http://www.gko.uni-leipzig.de/aegyptisches-museum/ueber-das-museum/sonderausstellungen.html Model by Christoph Scholz and fellow students. Simple photography techniques were used, no further processing of the mesh. Text: Gabriele Schier
