The professor requires three butterfly valves for his project, but Chinese products are too pricey for his budget. I created and constructed three valves for a total cost of $27,000, which equates to $9,000 per valve (including electric enclosures and hydraulic power units). The leakage flow follows AWWA standards at 0.02 L/s/m seal; however, actual leakage is only 16 cc/min.
