it is commonly used to control the flow of fluids, such as liquids or gases, in a pipeline. It consists of a metal disc or plate that is mounted on a rod or shaft in the center of the valve. When the valve is open, the disc is positioned parallel to the direction of flow, allowing the fluid to pass through the valve with minimal obstruction. When the valve is closed, the disc is rotated perpendicular to the flow, blocking the passage of fluid.
