Butterfly Screen Patch

Butterfly Screen Patch

thingiverse

I stumbled upon this really cool butterfly print and thought to myself, "That would make an awesome patch for a hole in the screen on my porch!" But then I had to figure out how to create one that could be installed from just one side. The model has a small catch at the top where the breakaway bar on the side slips into place. To get it working, you'll need to snip off any excess pieces and I find it helps to give one end a slight taper for easier insertion. Be careful not to cut too much, though - there isn't a lot of strength in that catch. Once the bar is seated in the catch, you can slide the whole thing to one side until you can position the bar under the screen on the other side, and then center it. You'll be looking at the underside of the model as you do this. And there you have it! For my failed attempts, I used an internal wing part that slipped into a hole to create a makeshift repair for small tears.
