Butterfly, Animated

myminifactory

I recently downloaded software updates for the Cura slicer and firmware upgrades for my Ultimaker 3 Extended printer, so I decided to push the new features of both to their limits and "Butterfly, Animated" was the result. Please keep in mind that I'm not a lepidopterist or a botanist, but rather someone who simply interpreted a butterfly on a flower in my own way. Seeing the reactions of those who think the butterfly is real for at least a moment is always entertaining. To test the limits of my Ultimaker 3 Extended, I created a dual extrusion file called "Wings.3fm" for the wings. However, I've also included a single extrusion file called "Wings.stl" (the black outline of the wings) and another file called "Wings Infill.stl" (the orange infill for the wings). Additionally, you can use either "Base With Leaves.stl" or "Base Without Leaves.stl" depending on whether you want leaves in your print. I've also included a file called "Parts.pdf" which outlines the settings I used for each part of "Butterfly, Animated". As usual, I probably forgot to include one or two files so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask as I make plenty of mistakes. Designed using Autodesk Fusion 360 and sliced with Cura 2.6.2, printed in PLA on an Ultimaker 2+ Extended and a dual extrusion Ultimaker 3 Extended printer.
