Butterfly Number One - This butterfly is a species of insect that belongs to the family Pieridae. It has a distinctive black and yellow pattern on its wings, which helps it blend in with the flowers it feeds on. The butterfly's life cycle begins as an egg laid by the female on a leaf or stem of a plant. The eggs hatch into larvae after several days, and these caterpillars eat the leaves of the plant until they are full-grown. When the caterpillar is fully grown, it attaches itself to a leaf or branch and forms a chrysalis around its body. Inside this protective casing, the caterpillar undergoes a dramatic transformation, eventually emerging as a fully formed butterfly. The adult butterfly emerges from the chrysalis with wings still soft and folded. It will pump blood into these wings, expanding them to their full size and shape before flying off to start the next generation.
