The famous singer Dalida finds her home base in Montmartre, where she settles down in 1962. She purchases a very beautiful private hotel located on the narrow rue d'Orchampt right in the heart of Montmartre. Then, she starts frequenting the Italian restaurant Grazziano located below the windmill, as well as the shops along the rue Lepic. In the 70s, Dalida participates in different actions to defend and protect The Butte, which she especially loves. Fragilized by the loss of loved ones, Dalida gives herself death in her home in 1987 and will be buried at Montmartre Cemetery. In 1997, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of her death, the district of Montmartre decides to pay tribute to her: her bust, a work by French sculptor Alain Aslan (also author of the sculpture that adorns her tomb), is erected on the small eponymous square. The 1996 vintage of Montmartre wine also bears the name of the famous singer. Source: montmartre-guide.com
