This bust originates from a larger herm pillar sculpture created from an original bust unearthed in 1525 near Rome's Porta del Popolo. From the sixteenth century, French monarchs received ancient Italian diplomatic gifts. In 1604, Henri IV consolidated the French Royal Collections, a collection of these antiquities curated by Colbert and Louvois within the Louvre, aimed at expanding Louis XIV's royal collection. The bust was initially believed to be created in the 2nd Century AD, while the herm was produced in the seventeenth century AD. This object is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory.
