Bust of the Younger Faustina
myminifactory
This portrait is an exact replica of a Roman bust on display at the Capitoline Museum in Rome. Bartolomeo Cavaceppi, its creator, had previously worked on restoring a Roman original for Pope Benedict XIV in the 1740s and had produced several copies in his illustrious career. Faustina was a daughter to Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius and Roman Empress Faustina the Elder. She held the title of Roman Empress and was married to her maternal cousin, Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. The soldiers who served under her command and even her husband himself looked up to her with great admiration. After her passing, she was granted divine honors in recognition of her exceptional character.
