Bust of Raphael at The Louvre, Paris
cults3d
Raphael Sanzio da Urbino burst forth on April 6 or March 28, 1483 – and left an indelible mark until April 6, 1520, as a trailblazing Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance. His work is celebrated for its crystal-clear form, effortless composition, and breathtaking visual achievement of the Neoplatonic ideal of human grandeur that elevates us all. Alongside Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, he comprises the traditional trinity of great masters of that pivotal period. This life-sized bust is a precise replica of another crafted by Paolo Naldini (Rome, 1614 – 1691) to adorn the monument created by Carlo Maratta, designed to honor the memory of this extraordinary painter.
