Bust of Pope Clement XIV

myminifactory

A marble bust of Pope Clement XIV, shown wearing a skull-cap and cape tied with a knotted cord in front, gazes slightly to his right. Commissioned by British collector Thomas Mansel Talbot for £140 in Rome, this bust was created alongside one of the collector himself. The relationship between Pope Clement XIV (Lorenzo Ganganelli; 1705-1774) and the British community in Rome during that time is notable for its warmth and friendship. This artifact is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory to create a digital archive of fully printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe available for free public access. Scan the World is an open-source effort where anyone can contribute interesting items by contacting stw@myminifactory.com. Courtesy of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
