Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (January 27, 1756 – December 5, 1791) was a renowned composer of the Classical era. Born in Salzburg, Austria, Mozart demonstrated remarkable talent from an early age. He mastered both keyboard and violin by his fifth birthday and began composing music at that same tender age. By the time he was seventeen, Mozart had already gained recognition as a skilled musician and was appointed to the Salzburg court, but he soon grew restless and sought new opportunities elsewhere. A pivotal moment in his life came when he visited Vienna in 1781, where he was unexpectedly dismissed from his position at the Salzburg court. Instead of returning home, Mozart chose to remain in the vibrant city, where he quickly gained fame, although financial stability eluded him. During his final years in Vienna, Mozart created many of his most celebrated symphonies, concertos, and operas, as well as significant portions of the Requiem Mass, which remained unfinished at the time of his untimely death. The circumstances surrounding his early passing have become shrouded in myth and legend. He left behind a wife, Constanze, and two sons to mourn his loss. Mozart's remarkable legacy is characterized by an astonishing 600+ works, many of which are considered pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral music. His influence on Western art music has been profound, with Ludwig van Beethoven drawing inspiration from Mozart's compositions during his early years. In fact, Joseph Haydn went so far as to predict that posterity would not witness a talent like Mozart's for another 100 years.
