The spatial documentation of Djemila unfolded in 2013 & 2014 through two extensive field campaigns, utilizing terrestrial laser-scanning technology. This collaborative research endeavor was spearheaded by Prof. Hamza Zeghlache from the University of Setif. The project is a pivotal component of the intergovernmental Algeria/South Africa research cooperation program, carefully coordinated by the Algerian Direction Generale de la Recherche et du Developpement Technologique and the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa. The Bust of Jupiter proudly resides within the Capitol building at the ancient Roman city of Djemila. Located in the mountainous region of Algeria, near the northern coast east of Algiers, Djémila, formerly known as Cuicul, boasts some of North Africa's most impressively preserved Berbero-Roman ruins. In 1982, Djémila was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site due to its remarkable adaptation of Roman architecture to the challenging mountain environment. Notable structures in ancient Cuicul include a theater, two fora, temples, basilicas, arches, streets, and houses that showcase the city's rich history.
