Poetschke patented a revolutionary method of three-dimensional reproduction using photography. Based on Willème's principle of radial profile shots around a cylindrical core, Poetschke sought to capture intricate details through lines of light. Poetschke placed inanimate objects on a wheel and rotated them in a darkened room, positioning a single camera at an angle just shy of 90 degrees to the light source. This technique allowed him to photographically reproduce even the most recessed areas, such as the regions around the eyes in a bust. The resulting light sections significantly enhanced internal precision. Poetschke successfully applied this method to recreate a Goethe bust.
