This limestone bust showcases Isis as a dignified Roman matron. Isis, a highly revered goddess of ancient Egypt, gets her name from an Egyptian word meaning "throne." Initially unknown and lacking dedicated temples, Isis gradually gained significance during the dynastic era until she became one of the most influential deities in ancient Egyptian culture.
