Bust of Houdini
myminifactory
Houdini ordered this bust to be placed at his gravesite. Two exact replicas were crafted, and this one is on display at the Houdini Museum in New York City, a private collection. It stands about 30 inches tall. Harry Houdini (1874 -1926) was a Hungarian-born American illusionist and stunt performer, famous for his daring escape acts. The bust has been stolen or destroyed four times between 1975 and 1993. The original was happily donated to the Museum of the City of New York by his wife Bess, but the replica was smashed with a sledgehammer in 1975, replaced and then stolen in 1983, only to be recovered in 2003. It was most recently replaced in 2011 by the Houdini Commandos, a group from the Society of American Magicians, who crafted a new replica.
