In 1606 Henri IV decreed that his bust be displayed prominently in a gallery of the town hall. Concurrently, a stunning marble polychrome statue was commissioned for the Pont-Neuf in 1604, and another was installed in 1607 in the courtyard of the town hall where it remains visible today.
