Gordian III, born Marcus Antonius Gordianus Pius Augustus, ruled Rome from 238 to 244 AD. At just 13 years old, he became the youngest sole emperor in Roman history, marking a pivotal moment for the unified empire. His father, a senator whose name is unknown, had passed away before his son's ascension to power. Gordian III's mother, Antonia Gordiana, was the daughter of Emperor Gordian I and sister of Emperor Gordian II, both notable figures in Roman history. Little information exists about Gordian III's early life before he adopted the name of his maternal grandfather in 238 AD, a significant milestone in his young career as emperor.
