Bust of Gordian III

myminifactory

This is a statue of Marcus Antonius Gordianus Pius Augustus, Roman Emperor from January 20, 225 AD to February 11, 244 AD. At just 13 years old, he became the youngest solo legitimate Roman emperor throughout the entire history of the united Roman Empire. His father was an unnamed Roman Senator who died before 238 AD, and his mother, Antonia Gordiana, was a direct descendant of Emperor Gordian I and older sister of Emperor Gordian II. Very little is documented about his early life until his appointment. He adopted the name of his maternal grandfather in February 238 AD.
