Dilma Vana Rousseff (Brazilian Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈdʒiwmɐ ˈvɐ̃nɐ ʁuˈsɛf(i)]); born December 14, 1947) is a Brazilian economist and politician who served as the country's 36th president from 2011 until her removal from office on August 31, 2016.[1] She was the first woman to hold the position of Brazilian president[2] and previously held the role of Chief of Staff for former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva from 2005 to 2010.
