Bust of Angélique d'Hannetaire (1749-1822), crafted by renowned artist Gilles-Lambert Godecharle (1750-1835). The Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Belgium proudly showcases this masterpiece in Brussels, Belgium. Capturing Reality brings it to life. Angélique D'Hannetaire was a celebrated French actress and opera singer. Born into a family of actors and directors, her father D'Hannetaire and mother Marguerite Hue both took the stage. At just 12 years old, Angélique made her debut at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in La Servante maîtresse by Pierre Baurans, accompanied by Alexandre Bultos. This was after studying under the guidance of Ignaz Vitzthumb, music-master of the Théâtre de la Monnaie. Angélique's impressive career spanned from 1766 to 1775 at the Monnaie. She consistently played lead roles in romantic parts and also showcased her vocal talents in opera buffa performances.
