myminifactory
Although the figure depicted cannot be definitively identified, the treatment of the hair in thick, coarse tresses, the sideburns and look of unyielding resolve are characteristic of some Hellenistic ruler portraits. (The nose and bust have been restored). It was donated by Richard Payne Knight and is a Roman replica from the 2nd century AD, created from a lost Hellenistic original, likely dating to the 2nd Century BC.
