He navigated international relationships through his literature and Gyulai Pal believed that Hungarian public life and literature was influenced by a blend of European spirit. In late August 1844, he moved to Budapest for legal studies, from which he graduated in mid-February 1846. Although he passed the bar exam in 1846, he devoted himself fully to literature. When Csengery Antal took over as editor-in-chief of Pesti Newspaper in July 1845, he joined him and became a writer at his side. Under the pen name, he wrote numerous articles for the newspaper. His vivid and humorous writing style quickly captivated readers. In mid-1846, he became part of the Society of Ten, a group of young writers who collaborated on a bulletin exclusively focused on their work; however, the organization disbanded at the end of the year. From autumn 1846 to July 1847, he lived with Petofi and took Italian lessons together. In 1847, his poor health made it difficult for him to continue writing. He went to Laab's water next to the hospital in July 1847 and then traveled to Vienna, where he spent 1848-49. His health never fully recovered, and he returned home in August 1850, discouraged about pursuing a career as a writer.
