Bust of a Woman in a Medallion
myminifactory
This bust of a woman dressed in sixteenth-century attire was designed as a companion piece to the adjacent medallion featuring the bust of a man clad in classical garb. Together, they would have been situated on the cornerstone of a door displaying two faces. The door itself was constructed in 1539 by Louis Privat and served as an entrance to the chapel of the Consistories, which was built adjacent to the Archives Tower, now known as the Keep. A technique used to accentuate the reliefs involves adding a ring around them, a method also employed on the friezes of Bournazel Castle.
