Bust of a Minotaur
myminifactory
This is an ancient marble statue from the classical era showing a Minotaur, originating from Plaka. The original full piece is thought to come from a sculptural group featuring Theseus. The Minotaur was a man with a bull's head, locked away by King Minos in the Labyrinth built by Daedalus in Crete. The Athenians were forced every year to send seven young men and seven young women to be food for this famous beast.
