Bust in The Style of The Ares Borghese at The State Hermitage Museum, Russia
myminifactory
This captivating marble bust showcases Ares, a term that translates directly to Battle, the Roman equivalent of Mars, Greek god of war, known for his fierce warrior spirit. As the son of Zeus and Hera, he is one of twelve powerful Olympian gods. With its remarkably similar facial structure and features, this sculpture is unmistakably a reinterpretation of the renowned Ares Borghese (on display at the Louvre, available on Scan the World), a Greek original created by Alkamenes around 420 BC. The decorative helmet from the original piece has gone missing, but this statue offers a glimpse into what the Ares Borghese would have looked like in its entirety. This object is part of "Scan The World", an innovative initiative launched by MyMiniFactory to create a comprehensive digital archive of fully printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access. Scan the World is an open-source community effort that invites contributions; if you have intriguing items nearby and would like to participate, simply email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can make a difference.
