Business Card made out of old postcards with a laser cutter

We initiated a unique project for our collaborative Sinndrin Genossenschaft by seeking out distinctive business cards crafted from recycled materials. To achieve this, we purchased a collection of vintage postcards at a thrift store for a minimal cost and utilized a laser cutter to extract two business cards from each postcard. The standard format of 85 mm x 55 mm proved challenging to arrange on the A6 postcard size, resulting in considerable material waste. We considered revising the design to a smaller or trapezoidal shape to accommodate at least three business cards per postcard, but ultimately abandoned this idea. Our custom business cards possess an added layer of sophistication due to the fact that most postcards feature handwritten messages and stamps on the reverse side. As a result, each recipient of our business card is presented with a brief story to unravel. This led us to ponder the implications of privacy, yet the layout of the two business cards cleverly conceals half of the recipient's address, thereby ensuring confidentiality. The SLA File serves as the original source document, created using Scribus software.
