The hot end is the part of your 3D printer that melts plastic filament into a liquid state. This process is called extrusion, and it's what allows your 3D printer to create complex objects layer by layer. The hot end consists of a heating element, a thermistor, and a nozzle. When you send a print job to your 3D printer, the machine heats up the hot end until it reaches a specific temperature. This is usually around 200-300 degrees Celsius, depending on the type of filament being used. Once the hot end has reached the correct temperature, it begins to melt the plastic filament that's fed into it. The melted plastic then flows out of the nozzle and onto the build plate, where it cools and solidifies, creating a new layer. The thermistor is responsible for monitoring the temperature of the hot end, making sure it stays within the optimal range for melting the plastic. If the temperature gets too high or too low, the printer will stop working properly. The nozzle is the part that actually extrudes the melted plastic out of the hot end. It's usually a small metal tube with a tiny opening at the end, which is where the plastic comes out. The nozzle has to be precise and consistent in order for the print to turn out right.
