Burma-Shave Road Signs

Burma-Shave Road Signs

thingiverse

Three of my favorite Burma Shave roadside poems. The Burma Shave campaign kicked off in 1927 and wrapped up in 1963, spanning a massive 45 states with over 7000 signs. Although most signs displayed white text on red backgrounds, those in South Dakota featured white text on blue due to restrictions on the use of red for official warnings. These models are designed so that the text can be printed separately from the base plaque. The letters of the text fit neatly into matching insets on the plaques - they're even slightly undersized for a precise fit. Alternatively, text and plaques could be combined for dual-color printing (the models will align perfectly), but I haven't tried it yet. The signs measure 197mm in length, 57mm in width, and a mere 2.5mm thick.
