Possible prehistoric carved rock unearthed on Burley Moor, Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire. Identified during thorough surveys by the skilled CSI: Rombalds Moor team in 2013, this remarkable rock was meticulously recorded 'Burley Moor 02' and subsequently added to ERA later that year. The diligent team documented: 'Unusually-shaped sandstone boulder measuring 1.9m x 1.15m x 0.32m high. The NE edge of the boulder is embedded in the side of a gentle southward-facing slope. Two shallow cup-like depressions, approximately 9cm apart on the NW corner of the rock, are aligned roughly N-S. These depressions are not prominent and could be natural features.' Keith Boughey later referenced the stone IAG358a on his regional archive. ERA information: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/details.jsf?eraId=2494 A highly detailed model was created from 12 stereo pairs captured by Richard Stroud (CSI team) in March 2013. The imagery forms a vital part of the HLF-funded CSI: Rombalds Moor / Watershed Landscape Project archive deposited with ERA / ADS.
