The Arleigh Burke Class destroyers, renowned as the most heavily armed in US history and the world's most powerful, were designed to succeed the Spruance Class D. They inherited technology from Ticonderoga class "Aegis" Cruisers and feature angled superstructure sides and a tripod mast for radar signature reduction at sea. These ships are equipped with numerous Tomahawk cruise missiles and possess a 5-inch 62 caliber automatic deck gun, along with one or two Phalanx guns capable of firing 2000 rounds per minute, each with its own radar-guided aiming system. They also carry Seahawk Helicopters, specifically the anti-submarine warfare version, which are stored in onboard hangars and equipped with torpedoes. The Burkes also boast six torpedo launch tubes, three per side, either amidships or on the after missile deck depending on the individual vessel.
