Burin on Blade Discovered in La Roche, France During the Upper Paleolithic Period (40,000-10,000 years ago), a significant archaeological find was unearthed in La Roche, France. The artifact, a well-crafted burin made from flint, measures 53.9 mm in length, 16.7 mm in width, and 8.9 mm in thickness. Acquired by James Bell Bullitt in 1929 during his European tour, the specimen is part of a larger collection of artifacts that was later donated to the University of North Carolina. The burin is now housed in the North Carolina Archaeological Collection at the Research Laboratories of Archaeology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Modelled by Abigail Gancz, this significant find sheds light on the lives and tools used by our ancient ancestors during the Upper Paleolithic era.
